Live Long and Prosper

Yeah, considering my state of mind right now I HAD to say that. Well, I havent written anything here in awhile! Mainly cuz nothing much has gone on that I felt i needed to comment about. Well now something new has taken over my mind. What is it? Well look at the title! You'll soon figure it out....no? Star Trek, people!

I wasnt sure whether to see this movie because A) I knew almost nothing about the TV show, and B) I already love Star Wars and in my nerdy state of mind I wasnt sure if I could like both. But I asked around and people told me it was okay to like both, plus a friend who had already seen it said you didnt have to know the TV show to enjoy it. So I saw the movie and I absolutely adore it!

I totally fell in love with Zachary Quinto's Spock. Aside from the fact that he's totally hot, there's just something about him. Maybe cuz he's different from all the rest. Maybe because he's so conflicted, having all these human emotions, but the Vulcan will to constantly control them (that doesnt even go into what he feels after experiencing a great personal loss, which i wont give away, in case anyone hasnt seen it yet). Maybe too it's because we have a few personality traits in common.

So now I've also been seeking out the original series to get more familiar with the characters, and of course, see more of Spock in action. There's definitely going to be at least one Spock drawing coming soon, if not more. :D

The original Star Trek is well worth seeing. Especially when you consider when it was made. It really was brilliant for it's time. The amazing thing must have been the colours - people had only had colour television for a few years. The programme was bright and stunning.

Mr Spock was the best character because he was strange, endearing and brilliant played by Leonard Nimoy. Zachary Quinto did an execellent job at playing a character already so well defined.

I'm glad you enjoyed it - you have got a treat ahead of you when you watch the old shows. And remember - Sgt. Pepper's had just been released when this programme started: people's eyes and ears must have been bleeding for months from all the excitement.

Live long and prosper...

Well I have looked at a bunch of Spock clips and a couple episodes on YouTube. I saw the one where Spock smiles and that did kinda get to me. Leonard Nimoy does do a great job and Spock really is an endearing character. :) I can totally believe that Zachary's Spock evolves into Leonard's.

I picked up 3 DVDs of the original series at my library and watched 2 of the 6 episodes that I have. All I can say is I see the appeal! I wont say the effects dont make me laugh, but the stories are really good and I am really drawn to Spock, so I am enjoying it muchly :D

You know if you go through one of those secret proxy things like Hidemyass.com and then look at the CBS channel on Youtube, you can watch every episode of TOS online! Yay for American Youtube! The episodes have 26 second long adverts but it is worth it!

(You are in Liverpool right? If you're in the US just watch normal Youtube...that would be less hassle :P)

Well that is my summer quest! I've probably seen about 40 episodes so far. I'd like to see some of the movies too if I can get my hands on them. My library only has the first one.

I found an app on my iPod that lets you stream TV from the internet and there's a channel that ONLY plays Star Trek movies :D I watched them all over a few days and never even noticed that the screen was tiny :P

Excellent! I love the movies but they don't have as many of the cheesy special effects in them =P That means no slow motion fighting...there is some funky pink floating Klingon blood though!
