Things learned from the Star Trek bonus features:

Wed Nov 18, 2009, 11:35 AM
Just a list of things I picked up or found highly amusing that I wanted to share. These are from the various interviews, deleted scenes, bloopers, and outtakes from the DVD bonus features. Some of the references are ambiguous but I didn’t wanna give too much away. Of course, I’d be happy to explain any of them in more detail. And I’m not done watching them, so I’ll probably be adding to this. I kept with using the character’s name rather than the actor’s name, just because I find it more amusing that way ;)

1. Nero chews a lot of gum
2. Lil Nero is kind of adorable
3. Orions all look the same to Jim
4. Spock’s preferred coffee appears to be Starbucks
5. McCoy is astonished at Spock’s use of, shall I say, more colorful metaphors
6. Both Spocks have ample knowledge of colorful metaphors
7. Chekov thinks he’s the weirdest member of the crew
8. No one understands Jim & Sulu’s brand of humor
9. Sarek has some cool outfits-hello, brown crocodile skin jacket!
10. Sarek’s preferred mode of transport? Giant hoverbike
11. Sarek is clearly happy at the birth of his son
12. Sarek is clearly confused at possibly knowing of Spock Prime’s presence
13. In terms of casting, Spock immediately recognized who his Jim should be
14. Spock Prime knows that younger Spock “has no idea what he’s getting into”
15. Spock Prime lets younger Spock know that he is “screwed”
16. Someone should report Jim’s uncle to child services
17. Lt. Uhura should know that Irish!Spock “luvvvves herrrrrr”
18. Sometimes Spock just “can’t keep it together!” XD
19. Chekov is a whiz at 2D chess
20. One of Spock’s fav phrases- “Oh my gawd!”
21. The Spocks seem to have developed a friendship, which is nothing short of adorable
22. Jim & Spock also developed a friendship, which I suppose is the point of the whole thing
23. Everyone agrees that younger Bones channels some kind of McCoy Prime energy
24. Both Spocks have especially nice smiles <3
25. Spock sometimes wears glasses to hide his eyebrows
26. Some of the writers wanted Kirk Prime there…for whatever reason
27. Uhura Prime and Chekov Prime both seem to approve of younger Uhura & Chekov
28. Dropping a Centurion Slug down someone’s throat is harder than it looks
29. Spock can look extremely and comically pouty
30. Be warned that when Bones says he may throw up on you, he might actually do it
31. Vulcan kids like pizza
32. Spock Prime wants his ears pointing forwards, not backwards
33. Spock plucks his own eyebrows
34. You have earn a theme, theme songs just dont get handed to you

Boldly going....

Thu Aug 27, 2009, 2:34 PM
...to where I've been before, for far too long now. Back at school I be, although this is my last full term. After this it should theoretically be downhill, as I'll only have a couple classes left that I couldnt otherwise fit in.

Beatlefest was great. Fest #20 for me! It was really fun. Liverpool was amazing, as usual, and they did a bunch of stuff from Abbey Road, as its 40 this year. Earl Slick was one of the guests, he played on John's Double Fantasy album. The man just exudes coolness. There were also 2 demos of RockBand set up for people to try and it looked really fun, not to mention the music sounded great.

I'm still very much Trekking out, as I only bought a couple Beatles things while I was at Fest. The rest of the time I was in the marketplace, I was looking for any random Trek items. You never know what those vendors may have. And amazingly enough, I was able to locate some Trek items! Success.

Drawing-wise, obviously I've just done one. I've got plans to try my hand at drawing Bones, both Karl Urban's and DeForest Kelley's. So we'll see how that goes. Only with school now I'm not gonna be as quick in churning these out.

UPDATE- Yeah there's been an unexpected delay in my goal to draw some Bones-ness. So hopefully I can get the issue fixed soon so that I can get to work on them....

To Boldy Go...

...where I havent gone before! Yes, my newfound Star Trekyness is still very much on my mind and I am still majorly obsessing over it :) I've seen the new movie many times now (and yes, one theater near me still has it!). I've been trying to get my hands on all kinds of Trek stuff and am still flooding myself with it from every angle. I certainly never expected my interest to be this strong or last this long. But hey! it's kind of a means of escapism for me, so if I think about Trek, I wont be thinking about my other problems that are going on.

My quest to watch the entire original series is still going. So far I've seen almost all of the first 2 seasons, and about half of the third. I'm also trying to get my hands on some of the movies just to see what they're like. I've also gone a little farther and watched Next Generation when I can catch it. I dont like it as much as the original series, but its certainly not a waste of time to watch (and hello, Patrick Stewart!).

I'm currently in the middle of another re-do of a drawing I did almost 3 years ago, of Doc Hudson from Cars. I realise the way I drew him before could definitely be an improvement. This seems to be the summer I redo all my crappy stuff. Or as much of it as I feel like. It's kinda boring and tedious redoing things you've already done. That should be done by the end of the month at the latest. Other than that, I may have still another Spock coming if I can figure out how to pull it off...

Live Long and Prosper

Yeah, considering my state of mind right now I HAD to say that. Well, I havent written anything here in awhile! Mainly cuz nothing much has gone on that I felt i needed to comment about. Well now something new has taken over my mind. What is it? Well look at the title! You'll soon figure it out....no? Star Trek, people!

I wasnt sure whether to see this movie because A) I knew almost nothing about the TV show, and B) I already love Star Wars and in my nerdy state of mind I wasnt sure if I could like both. But I asked around and people told me it was okay to like both, plus a friend who had already seen it said you didnt have to know the TV show to enjoy it. So I saw the movie and I absolutely adore it!

I totally fell in love with Zachary Quinto's Spock. Aside from the fact that he's totally hot, there's just something about him. Maybe cuz he's different from all the rest. Maybe because he's so conflicted, having all these human emotions, but the Vulcan will to constantly control them (that doesnt even go into what he feels after experiencing a great personal loss, which i wont give away, in case anyone hasnt seen it yet). Maybe too it's because we have a few personality traits in common.

So now I've also been seeking out the original series to get more familiar with the characters, and of course, see more of Spock in action. There's definitely going to be at least one Spock drawing coming soon, if not more. :D

"Back in school again...

Sun Jan 18, 2009, 9:38 AM
...Maxwell plays the fool again, teacher gets annoyed" Sorry, little quote there from Maxwell's Silver Hammer, off the Abbey Road album. Well here we are into another year and I just posted by first drawing of the New Year. Kind of an unexpected one, really. And here I am into another term at uni. :P ('hence' the quote, and Abbey Road is 40 years old this year :))

So in my spare time I've been obsessing over the TV show Blackadder which I recently discovered last week (although I was aware of it before that). It starred Rowan Atkinson and I think there were 4 series of it, each taking place during a different period in time. Blackadder II is what I'm currently into and it takes place during the Elizabethan period. I've watched the whole series 2 and am starting to each series 3 which takes place during the late 18th or early 19th century I think.
